How do I buy uniform?2021-08-17T19:38:43+01:00

Uniform isn’t compulsory at Little Elves but we do have t-shirts and sweatshirts available if you wish to purchase them. Just pop into the office and ask for an order form, we have all stock on site. All children recieve a T shirt and a Book bag with their starter pack fee.

How do I find out information about what’s going on in the pre-school?2021-08-17T19:40:34+01:00

There is information on this website and our Facebook page, and you will be sent letters home and emails; newsletters are also emailed to you once every half term. There is also information displayed on the A frame and in the Parent box outside the pre-school.

If my child stays all day do I need to provide a lunch?2021-08-17T19:41:47+01:00

Yes you do. Please ensure that there are no items containing nuts and that any grapes are cut in half. Please also ensure that all lunchboxes are clearly labelled and if providing a drink the bottle must fit inside ttheir lunch box, alternatively we can provide Milk or water at lunch for your child.

What happens if someone else needs to collect my child from pre-school?2017-07-03T10:29:34+01:00

You need to ring the office on 01252 625332 and inform them that someone other than their regular person is collecting them. When your child started, you had to complete a form listing anyone else who might be collecting and give them the password so we need to know a) if they have collected your child before and b) if they know the password. If it is someone who has not collected before, we need to know this and they need to make themselves known to the member of staff on the door at pickup.

If you have not told us that someone else is collecting your child, we will not allow them to leave the premises and will contact you for confirmation.

Do I need to let you know when my child won’t be coming in?2016-01-27T13:10:42+00:00

Yes please. You need to ring 01252 625332 if your child is off sick. If they’ve actually been sick they must stay at home for 48 hours after the last bout of sickness to prevent the possibility of spreading the sickness throughout the pre-school. If you are going on holiday, or know that you will not be attending on a specific day, please write it in your child’s communication book so that we can add it to the diary.

Can my child bring in toys from home?2016-01-27T13:09:41+00:00

We do discourage bringing in toys because they do get lost or broken. If your child needs a comforter, please make sure that it is clearly labelled and that their keyworker knows that they brought it with them so we can ensure that it goes home with them at the end of the session.

Can I drop off and pick up whenever I want to?2017-07-03T10:29:34+01:00

No. Our session times are 9.00am – 12.00pm, 9.30am – 2.30pm, or 12.00pm – 3.00pm so drop offs are 9.00, 9.30 or 12.00, and pick ups 12.00, 2.30 or 3.00. We are a very busy pre-school and staff have duties outside of these times so cannot be waiting at the door to register people arriving or leaving at times other than those stipulated.

If you need to pick up at a different time for a specific reason such as a doctor’s appointment, then of course that is acceptable but you do need to tell your keyworker in advance.

Can I swap a session if I need to?2016-01-27T13:07:21+00:00

We do not allow swaps but you can pay for an extra session if you need to. The cost would be £13.95.

If you are closed for an INSET day can I have an extra session during that week?2016-01-27T13:06:20+00:00

Unfortunately no, we do not have the flexibility to allow this. You will not have been charged any fees nor is any grant claimed for the days that we are closed.

Can I change my sessions?2021-08-17T19:54:01+01:00

This is subject to availability and whether the session changes would mean a change of keyworker. Your child needs to see their keyworker at least 50% of their time with us and we don’t like to change as they do create a bond. We do try to accommodate all changes that are related to parents/carers job arrangements.

How do I pay my fees?2021-08-17T19:56:55+01:00

You are given an invoice for the next term approximately one month in advance. Fees are due on the first day of term. They can be paid in full or monthly subject to prior arrangement. Please speak to Emma Spence or Karen Spencer on 01252 625332 to discuss payment methods. Payment can be made in cash, by cheque, by card, by BACS, or by childcare voucher. We are registered with most voucher schemes so please speak to Karen for further details.

Can I split my funding allowance over more than 1 setting?2021-08-17T19:55:31+01:00

Yes, you can split the allowance over two settings. Please inform us on your child’s registration form when they start or talk to Karen to discuss options and ensure we are both claiming the right amounts.

What if I want to do more than 15 hours?2016-01-27T13:02:50+00:00

This is possible, subject to availability. You would be charged £4.65 for each extra hour that your child attends.

What is the 2 year old funding?2016-01-27T13:01:58+00:00

Certain two year olds are eligible for 15 hours free also but this is dependent on specific criteria such as whether you receive tax credits. You need to check your eligibility online, via the Hampshire County Council Website and then give us the reference code as proof.

When will my child be eligible for the government grant of 15 or 30 hours free a week?2021-08-17T19:44:47+01:00

This will be the term after their third birthday, so they need to have turned three before 1 January, 1 April or 1 September. You will then receive 15 hours free: all you need to do is sign a grant form which will be given to you to confirm the hours that your child attends, everything else is done for you. If you are think you are eligible for the 30 hours a week please speak to the Financial controller and she will guide you through the process.

How much are the fees?2021-08-17T19:49:12+01:00

The fees do increase annually, currently Sept 2021 – July 2022 they are £16.05 per 3 hr session for 2 yr olds and £15.45 for over 3’s. The minimum number of sessions that your child can attend is two (6 hours a week). A session is three hours long so this equates to £5.35 per hour for 2 yr olds and £5.15 per hour for over 3’s. Fees are charged for non funded children and if you go over your 15 funded hours a week without a 30 hour code.

Are there settling in sessions before my child starts?2016-01-27T12:58:44+00:00

You are welcome to come in for a pre-visit up to a month prior of your child starting. This will give you the opportunity to meet your child’s keyworker and discuss any concerns that you may have. You will need to stay with your child during the visit.

We are very flexible regarding your child settling in at Little Elves: for the first few weeks we are dictated by your needs so you can stay with your child or leave them, for the whole session or part, whatever suits you both best.

How do I find out if I have a place?2016-01-27T12:57:32+00:00

You will be contacted by letter if a place becomes available. You then need to phone to confirm that you still need a place; if you do not confirm, the place will be offered to someone else so it is very important that you contact us.

How do I apply for a place?2021-08-17T19:52:11+01:00

You need to complete a application form and send it back to us. The form can be found on this website at on the Home page down the left hand side under Quick Links. Please note that we are very busy so if you need a place soon it would be better to ring the office on 01252 625332 and speak to Karen or Emma, who can discuss availability with you. To secure a place, you usually have to apply 6-12 months in advance.

What do I do if I want to arrange a visit?2016-01-27T12:56:18+00:00
